Candidates must have a proven track record of community-engagement and successful federally funded research in health inequities in the field of cancer prevention and control, and a scholarly record of collaboration in multidisciplinary investigator teams informed by community outreach and engagement principles and practice.

The UVACC is based in Charlottesville, Virginia, and serves a large racially and ethnically diverse catchment area ranging from northern VA to Southern and Southwest VA, and includes areas in West Virginia. Throughout 30+ years of existence, the UVACC has continued to grow in excellence. High-priority scientific research areas include:

sociodemographic cancer disparities ,

access to cancer screening and follow-up care, prevention and control of cancers (e.g., colorectal cancer, lung cancer) and risk factors (e.g., tobacco and obesity) prevalent in UVACC’s catchment area, dissemination and implementation of evidence-based cancer control programs, and the care of cancer survivors in diverse settings . We are the only cancer center in Virginia listed in Becker’s 100 hospitals and health systems with great oncology programs.
