The Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies at the University of Utah invites applications for a Tenure Track occupational therapy faculty position at the assistant/associate professor level. We are seeking a faculty member with an established line of research, or promising potential for developing such a line, in any area of occupational therapy or related to occupational therapy practice that has promise for external research funding. This faculty member will contribute to the advancement of the Occupational Therapy degree programs with expertise that will complement and expand our philosophy and mission of teaching, scholarship, and service to the university, community, and profession.The applicant will join a group of dynamic occupational therapy and recreational therapy faculty with diverse teaching and research interests, and numerous research and teaching interdisciplinary collaborations across the University of Utah campus. In addition, we have strong partnerships with many of the state’s community agencies and have established global health programs, such as working with refugees and underserved people around the world. Additionally, our Life Skills Clinic provides opportunities for research, service learning, and occupation-based practice in the Salt Lake Area.We have strong partnerships with many of the state’s health care and community agencies. In addition to the university’s academic medical center, there are four other major medical centers that provide unique opportunities for practice, student placement, and research.The Department offers an accredited Bachelors of Recreational Therapy degree, Master’s Degrees in both Occupational Therapy and Recreational Therapy, and is developing an entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctoral degree. These programs have a national reputation for successfully preparing future educators and practitioners to work in traditional, non-traditional, and emerging practice areas. Faculty also participate in the Rehabilitation Science Doctoral program to prepare the next generation of rehabilitation scientists. Ph.D. students come from several health care professions.Position Available:

Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor in the College of Health, Department of Occupational and Recreational Therapies. The position is a full-time 9-month position starting July 1, 2023.Qualifications:

The applicant must have a research doctoral degree from an accredited institution. The applicant must have NBCOT certification and must be eligible for a State of Utah occupational therapy license. Candidates should demonstrate a record of research with an established externally-funded research program or promising potential to establish an externally-funded research program. Experience teaching entry-level occupational therapy students and having external funding is preferred. Expectations of this candidate include the ability to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of the job responsibilities.Responsibilities:

Engage in research/scholarly pursuits with external funding in an area of, or related to, occupational therapy; teach in innovative MOT and entry-level OTD curricula; engage in curriculum development; and provide university and professional service.
