link/button.Position Title: Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor - Department of General Dental SciencesState: WisconsinEmployment Status: Full TimePosition Status: RegularPosition Type: FacultyJob Family: FacultyPosition OverviewThe Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will provide instruction and will serve as a mentor to pre-doc students assigned to a range of dental clinic areas. In addition, the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor is responsible for the management of all patient care delivered by students. This is a five-day per week position.Marquette University School of Dentistry is well known for its innovative curriculum and for serving the community on its main campus in Milwaukee and in outreach clinics across the State of Wisconsin.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor is a member of the Department of General Dental Sciences. As such, the Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will provide appropriate student supervision, training, and will support the goals of that department. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor is expected to become familiar with and adopt the preventive and restorative philosophies set by the department in the areas of operative dentistry and prosthodontics.The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will assist the Comprehensive Patient Management Group (CPMG) Leader to ensure that clinical procedures for all disciplines are performed as specified in the Clinic Policy Manual and in accordance with the policies of the appropriate program.The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will provide some direct patient care. This would include cases where students either have been unable to arrive at an acceptable clinical result, or to expedite emergency treatment.The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor will provide guidance, monitoring, and direct clinical supervision to pre-doc students and will promote comprehensive patient care, serving as a clinical mentor and a dentist role model. They are responsible for implementing and following all clinical policies. This individual is expected to model the highest degree of professionalism in oral health care. This position reports to the Chair of the Department of General Dental Sciences.The Clinical Assistant Professor is expected to participate in calibration programs and provide student clinical assessment based upon such calibration.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesQualified applicants must have a DMD/DDS degree from a US or Canadian dental school recognized by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or a comparable foreign degree. Applicants must hold a valid dental license in some state or jurisdiction and be eligible for a regular license or faculty license in the State of Wisconsin.Preferred Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesCandidates with demonstrated experience in teaching.
