2024-14310As a Design Engineer, a typical day might include the following:Design and engineer low- and medium-voltage AC and DC circuit breakers.Propose, estimate, plan, and execute high-quality work that meets or exceeds applicable standards, regulations, customer specifications, and requirements.Communicate and collaborate with customers using verbal discussion, written correspondence, teleconferences, technical reports, papers, presentations, and product documentation.Consult with, mentor and train other engineers and colleagues in technical disciplines.Model, teach, and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.Protect SEL Intellectual Property by writing patent and copyright applications.Required Qualifications:United States citizenshipB.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related or equivalent experience5-10+ years of work experience with the following:AC and/or DC circuit breaker design and engineeringElectric power systems practices and philosophiesStatistical analysis and data analytic techniquesExpert experience with modeling and simulation software (Ansys, Solidworks, Matlab, Simulink, etc.)Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilitiesAbility to work cooperatively in a team environmentStrong writing, documentation, and speaking skillsExcellent technical training skillsWillingness to travel up to 10% of the timeBackground check results satisfactory to SELNegative drug test result(s)Preferred Qualifications:Successful experience with new product development and introduction, including testing, qualification, and manufacturingExperience with military-grade environmental requirements (e.g., shock, vibration)Understanding of power utility protection, control, automation, and communication schemesExpert knowledge of power systems analysis, power system protection, and power system stabilityDemonstrated and recognized research recordAuthor of quality professional publicationsPhysical Requirements:Sit up to 8 hours a dayVision correctable to 20/30 or betterAbility to communicate via telephoneUse computer keyboard deviceLocation:
