Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will be part of an innovative and collaborative geotechnical engineering team of over 90 geotechnical engineers and geologists. Barr's geotechnical engineering team serves the fuels, mining, power, and public sectors. We provide a wide array of services related to foundations, dams, embankments, landslides, soil-structure interaction, earth-retaining structures, excavations, and underground structures. We also offer geotechnical services for ground improvement, geotechnical modeling, instrumentation and monitoring, in-situ testing, geophysics, soil dynamics and earthquake engineering, geosynthetics, geohazard assessments, and groundwater and seepage.The primary role for this person will be assisting with the execution and management of geotechnical engineering projects related to renewable energy. Barr has been involved in the engineering of wind energy projects since 1992 - essentially the inception of the North American wind industry. Nearly 45 percent of U.S. wind power is currently supported by Barr's foundations. We have completed engineering services for over 61 GW of wind farms entering or currently in operation, and our projects can be found from Hawaii to Massachusetts. The work will involve frequent out-of-town assignments.Key Responsibilities:Drilling observationInstrumentation installation and monitoringField investigation and contractor coordinationGeotechnical investigation cost estimate and proposal developmentSurveyingGeotechnical construction observationPreparation of drilling logs, geological maps, cross-sections, and technical reportsOn-site investigation tasks may include classifying soil and rock samples, collecting samples for field screening and laboratory analysis, and field electrical resistivity testingMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in geology or related disciplineStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skillsStrong technical and problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility and willingness to work collaboratively with project team members in a high-energy work environment that encourages self-initiativeA flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules when required to meet deadlines and client needsWillingness and ability to regularly travelAbility to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 pounds or moreLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Academic coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described aboveProven task or project management skillsExtensive construction materials testing experienceA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.NOTE:

Applicants must be able to work in locations that feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and to enter and work in facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided.#LI-Hybrid
