Lecturer Pool – Physical TherapyPOSITION DETAILS:Sacramento State’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a three-year program dedicated to graduating professional, evidence-informed physical therapists who have the knowledge and skills to provide patient care in any practice environment.The program’s curriculum is designed to provide a foundation in the science and art of physical therapy, one that engages students in clinical reasoning through problem-solving within the context of patient cases, both actual and simulated. In addition, students complete 36 weeks of full-time internships at three locations to learn by doing in their respective practice settings.Areas may include: orthopedics, neurorehabilitation, therapeutic measurements and techniques, clinical agents, evidence-informed practice, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, simulation lab, acute care, physical therapist as educator, and psychosocial issues in PT. In general, duties include teaching lecture and lab classes in PT evaluation and treatment, usually team-teaching with a full-time faculty member.Duties of a part-time lecturer include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.Part-time lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool of applicants are made when there are instructional needs to fill coursework offered by an academic department based on changing enrollment patterns, changes to tenure-track faculty assignments, and other factors that cannot be addressed with our existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Must have earned PT degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus minimum 5 years teaching or professional experienceMust be licensed or eligible for physical therapy licensure in CaliforniaMust have a minimum of three years of clinical experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Teaching experience at the graduate levelRelevant clinical specializations, for example Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) or Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS)Online teaching experienceAPPLICANT INSTRUCTIONS:New applicants are required
