Unit Paid Faculty teach additional courses on an as needed basis.The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia invites applicants for a non-tenure-track position as a Lecturer in Commerce to teach a 3-credit course in Spring, 2025 within the Information Technology and Innovation Area. No research responsibilities are associated with this position. Applicants must have a master's degree in a relevant field and relevant teaching and/or work experience. A Ph.D. and prior teaching experience is preferred. This is a part-time, at-will faculty wage position that does not carry benefits.Candidates are sought for teaching one of these courses:Product and Project Management (COMM 3200)

Be able to provide an introduction to product management and project management skills that facilitate the management of the digital product innovation process end-to-end.Deliver seminars on the topics of the roles of the product and project manager, managing innovation, selecting projects, stakeholder management, team management, schedule and time management, risk management, and on leading changes.Facilitate workshops on agile and waterfall methods and on digital innovation.Database Management for Decision Making (COMM 3220)

Be able to provide an introduction to the management of database systems and how business intelligence can be used for competitive advantage.Provide applied, problem-based approaches that teach students the fundamentals of relational database systems including data models, database architectures, and database tools.Provide hands-on tools-based instruction for SQL and business intelligence tools.QUALIFICATIONS

A master's degree in business or a closely related field is required; a Ph.D. in a relevant field is preferred.Relevant industry or educational experience is required; previous teaching experience in a higher education setting is preferred.Exceptional interpersonal and collaborative team skills and the desire to work in a dynamic environment that stresses teamwork, innovation, and student-centered learning is required.The McIntire School of CommerceEstablished in 1921, The McIntire School of Commerce (www.commerce.virginia.edu), is a college of the University of Virginia, one of the highest ranked public universities in the United States.
