ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR – DUAL CREDITOLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGEOlive-Harvey College is currently seeking Part-Time Faculty to teach Dual Credit courses in partnership with one of the Network 13 Chicago Public High Schools. Dual Credit is an instructional arrangement where an academically qualified student currently enrolled in high school enrolls in a college-level course and, upon successful course completion, concurrently earns both college credit and high school credit. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in the classroom by developing and using effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverse needs and engage the student in critical thinking and problem-solving.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree in discipline corresponding to the course being taughtKnowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System, preferredExcellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students requiredExperience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.Should be comfortable teaching secondary and post-secondary student populationsTeaching assignments will vary based on availability and might include teaching at high schools within 20 mile radius of Olive-Harvey College (OHC)Should have an understanding about concurrent enrollment in the State of Illinois and City of ChicagoEnsure that the high school resources (syllabus, exams, textbooks, etc.) is aligned with the official OHC course objectives and student learning outcomesMust be flexible to teach various class schedules, as requiredMust have experience with various instructional modalities, i.e., in-person, hybrid, synchronous, asynchronousMust possess strong presentation skillsMust possess effective classroom management strategiesWillingness to communicate and collaborate with high school faculty and administrative staffAttend meetings with Early College departments, as requiredInstructors will teach in the following disciplines:
