In keeping with OBU’s mission, candidates should demonstrate a record of excellent teaching; a desire to integrate faith and knowledge within their discipline; a commitment to engaging a diverse world and cultivating inclusive learning communities; and a life of active Christian faith. The successful candidate will teach introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses in creative writing, core curriculum courses in composition and literature, and other courses in writing, editing, or literature as assigned, in accordance with the candidate’s qualifications. Scholars interested in teaching OBU’s unique interdisciplinary; team-taught Western Civilization course sequence are preferred. The expected teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year.Essential Functions• Teach core curriculum and upper-level undergraduate English courses• Keep accurate class records and submit reports and grades via an online learning management system• Keep regular office hours for advising studentsOther Duties• Maintain an active program of professional development, including attendance at professional conferences, presentations, and/or scholarly or creative publication• Serve the university and division in relation to student recruitment, campus events, and committees as assigned• Serve as academic advisor to students as assigned

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities• Must be able to teach multiple English courses, including creative writing, composition, and literature courses• Possess and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and pedagogy for diverse student populations• Be able to conduct a college classroom to maximize the student learning experience• Be able to adjust teaching methods to meeting student needs• Be able to work effectively with college age students in individual advisement as well as small and large class environments• Be proficient in office technology, office software (including various Microsoft tools), and classroom presentation softwareEducation and Experience•

Required: M.F.A. in Creative Writing, or M.A. in Creative Writing or English• Required: Experience teaching undergraduates in an accredited institution of higher education• Preferred: Ph.D. in Creative Writing, English, or Rhetoric/Composition
