Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of the Environmental Engineer are to conduct, supervise or direct remediation engineering projects. Environmental Engineer responsibilities include:Utilize environmental engineering knowledge to perform engineering functions related to environmental investigation and remediation projects.Work on diverse remedial engineering projects that involve a wide range of contaminants (VOCs/SVOCs/metals/PFAS/PCBs/NAPL) in all types of media (soil/groundwater/surface water/bedrock) utilizing innovative remedial technologies (P&T/removal/containment/dredging/ISS/chemical oxidation/bioremediation/capping).Work with PMs and clients to develop scope, schedule and budgets for remediation projects.Lead a team of staff engineers and scientists in preparation of remediation design deliverables including engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates and construction schedules.Prepare reports including Feasibility Studies, Pre-Design Investigations, Remedial Design and Remedial Action plans and reports.Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and negotiate remediation strategies.May function as a task manager on large remediation projects.Develop and implement field investigations. Primary role is to supervise investigation team from the office but may require leading investigation from the field.Serve as a consultant and supervisor of remedial construction management projects as needed.Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans and specifications.Delegate and supervise project teammates on remediation design components.Assist in marketing efforts for environmental project proposals.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field.Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation.Professional Engineer (PE) license.Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.Preferred Qualifications7 years of experience in remediation projects with a focus on remedial design.Excellent communication skills are essential and strong writing skills are required.Must be flexible, client-focused and self-motivated.Ability to work independently and as part of a team often with professionals across multiple offices.Strong commitment to safety, including following health and safety protocols.Ability to succeed in a fast-paced dynamic environment handling multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines.Requires ability to travel.Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.Practical experience with Michigan Part 115 & 201 Regulations and working with EGLE.Practical experience with EPA CCR Rule and working with EPA.Experience with statistical analysis of data.Design graphing skills.Prior consulting experience in Michigan.40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER and current 8-hour annual refresher.Experience with persistent bioaccumulative organic chemicals, metals, and emerging contaminants such as PFAS.Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, and/or Bentley software products preferred.Prior experience with field work and different environmental and/or remedial technologies a plus.Development and negotiating remedial actions, including federal projects a plus.Federal Superfund Feasibility Study and Design experience is a plus.Why HDRAt HDR, we know work isn't only about who you work for it's also about what you do and how you do it.
