Job ID: 2710182 | Amazon.com Services LLCAmazon Robotics is seeking a talented and motivated Applied Scientist to invent and deploy novel computer vision and depth estimation models across multiple robotics platforms.In this position, you will own the science of depth estimation and spatial reasoning. You will improve the algorithms that drive the perception systems across a broad range of problem spaces in the robotics fleet.This role offers the chance to have broad impact on the next wave of robotics. You will have opportunities to collaborate and work with research scientists, applied scientists, data scientists, software engineers, hardware engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver the next generation of vision sensing to the Amazon portfolio.Key job responsibilities

Architect, design, and implement vision systems for robotic platforms.Influence the team's strategy and contribute to long-term vision and roadmap.Work with stakeholders across science and operations teams to iterate on design and implementation.Maintain high standards by participating in reviews, designing for fault tolerance and operational excellence, and creating mechanisms for continuous improvement.Prototype and test concepts or features, both through simulation and emulators and with live robotic equipment.Work directly with customers and partners to test prototypes and incorporate feedback.Mentor other engineering team members.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field.- 1+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience.- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.- Experience developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly with respect to computer vision algorithms.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.- Experience in professional software development.- Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.- PhD and 2+ years of relevant industry, post-doc or academic applied research experience in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Vision or Perception.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
