The Substance Abuse Counselor will work under the direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional. They will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare personnel in evaluating and treating patients with addiction and mental health disorders. The Substance Abuse Counselor will provide treatment and support to help patients recover from various addictions and behavioral problems.Key Responsibilities

Provide assessments, treatment planning, and counseling for substance abuse program clients.Collaborate with healthcare personnel in evaluating and treating patients with substance abuse health problems.Perform prevention activities to prevent alcohol and drug abuse in the County and provide education and training for other staff and the public.Maintain client confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA requirements while documenting all findings in the patient's health record.Assist with crisis response and intervention services, help patients and families understand and follow substance abuse recommendations, and maintain a professional relationship with county staff and the healthcare team.Qualifications & Requirements

EducationHigh School and specialized training for licensing/certification(s).ExperienceAt least one year of experience providing treatment to individuals with substance abuse disorder within a correctional facility.Licenses/CertificationsCurrent (and must maintain) unrestricted license or certificate in state of practice.Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS/ACLS certification through AHA.We are an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer
