The addictions counselor utilizing the harm reduction approach will provide SUD assessment, education, counseling on substance use disorders, chemical dependency, relapse prevention, and anger management/coping skills, to high school students (and their families) within a BCPS (Baltimore City Public Schools) during the school day. The counselor will conduct individual/group therapy and will collaborate on the student's treatment/progress with the school's administration (counselors, social worker, psychologist, therapist, and other school support staff) to provide a holistic treatment approach.Responsibilities
Conduct addiction counseling sessions using evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.Provide individual and group counseling to students dealing with substance use disorder.Collect and analyze data to track client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.Engage in case management activities to ensure clients receive comprehensive care.Collaborate with school staff and community resources to provide holistic care.Offer counseling services to students and families affected by substance use disorder within the home community.Qualifications
Experience:Addiction counseling: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:CAC-AD, CSC-AD, or ADT (Required)Ability to Commute:Baltimore, MD 21215 (Required)Skills:- Strong understanding of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles.- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques.- Ability to collect and analyze data to inform treatment decisions.- Competency in case management practices.- Familiarity with adolescent/youth and family counseling approaches.- Previous experience working with adolescents/youth is a plus.
