It’s always a GOOD day in SoCal!The Grant Writer identifies opportunities and prepares and tracks funding proposals to secure public grant funding from federal, state, county, and local governmental agencies and public-private partnership sources to support the start-up, expansion, and operations of Goodwill Southern California’s 85+ social impact programs across Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and the Senior Director of Public Grants and Partnerships, the Grant Writer works with Goodwill's non-profit program leaders to prepare $500K-$5M proposals, updates the extensive schedule of public grant submissions for the organization, and supports relationships with the public agency offices. This is a hybrid position based at Goodwill's Los Angeles campus.Responsibilities:Researches funding sites, governmental agency portals, and other sources to identify grant opportunities, RFP’s, NOFA’s, and other governmental consortium resources to fund workforce and career development initiatives, social services, and economic empowerment programs.Completes a standardized evaluation process proactive grant analyses and recommends strategy and viability of funding opportunities.Directly writes and leads the preparation process of $500K-$5M proposals in collaboration with WCD department subject matter experts to develop data-driven, compelling, and viable programs and initiatives. Develops solid work plan and timeline for each grant proposal, including Requests for Qualification and Statements of Qualification.Substantiates the need for identified programs and services in the community that the funding source would be supporting.Writes template proposals and “letters of intent” for the workforce and career development (WCD) programs and adapts for the unique specifications of the funders, as described in their guidelines.Performs technical, analytical and professional tasks with particular emphasis on the collection, interpretation, aggregation and evaluation of data, and the incorporation of data into proposal.Determines the measurable goals and objectives, and precise procedures for carrying out each grant, after conferring with the Regional Impact Officers, Program Directors, and Director of Public Grants and Partnerships.Drafts, writes, and edits applications for accuracy, impact, excellence, and clarity.Assembles and prepares proposals, letters of intent, budget, and other supporting data/documents as required by funder for submission a minimum of three weeks ahead of deadline.Provides assistance in resolving inquiries, issues, and conflicts with funding agencies.This position requires some travel (up to 20%) within Southern California. A valid CA driver's license and state-required auto insurance. Driving records must be acceptable by our insurance carrier.Education & Experience:3-5 years solid grant writing experience for non-profit organizations.Demonstrated track record of success receiving government funding and knowledge in developing complex proposals and grant budgets.Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required.Possesses satisfactory driving record acceptable by Goodwill insurance vendor.Collaborative, positive, proactive work style.Ability to handle multiple priorities and confidential information.Hybrid/remote in-office schedule; Punctual and dependable attendance at weekly meetings.Understands the basic philosophy of Goodwill and participates fully in carrying out its mission.Adheres to Goodwill’s values of equitable Respect, Integrity, Service, & Excellence.Must have advanced knowledge proficiency of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and E-mail.Drug Screen, Background Check, Employment and Education Verification, Live Scan and MVR required.Goodwill Industries in Southern California is an equal opportunity employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.Goodwill gives preferential consideration to persons with barriers to employment.
