Country Day Little School located in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Lead nursery/kindergarten teacher to join our faculty of six, which
includes teachers with Masters degrees in Waldorf Education . Country Day is a Waldorf inspired early childhood program,embracing Lifeways and RIE into our work with the children. We provide a nurturing, play-based, developmentally attuned school environment for our students and families, and will be celebrating our 40th year this coming fall!Much of our program is inspired by Helle Heckmann’s model at Nokken, and our thirty students, ages two to six, spend their days in two mixed age classes that flow together through the day. Our activities are typical of a Waldorf early childhood, with extensive time spent out of doors, a focus on practical work, story, ring-time, arts and craft, and most importantly, self-directed play. We include a sought after 'Busy-Bee' program for our five year olds, which ensures that we have a balance of students from youngers to olders. We also celebrate festivals together as a community,
cultivating a space in which families join in a commitment to protecting childhood . Our parents find support from fellow parents and the teachers in working with their family life to meet their children’s developmental needs. We welcome parents to join us in the classroom to discover the warmth, joy and magic of their children’s experience at school. This opportunity allows for continuity between home and school, supporting rich parenting and a greater understanding of our school day.Our striving to gain insight and improve our practices makes for a dynamic and engaging work environment in which nothing is taken for granted and everything is open to thoughtful development. As a stand-alone early childhood program, our teachers are
free of the commitments that encompass being part of a Kinder to Eighth Grade school environment, allowing us to focus our efforts on strengthening and enriching our students directly. We are blessed with latitude and ample resources that make possible, nearly everything we teachers can dream up!We are committed to supporting our teachers in their day to day at school, in their professional development, and in their self development. A teacher who values and enjoys working collaboratively with a group of colleagues is a great fit for our school.

In our temperate climate, there are many opportunities for both urban and rural pursuits.We are looking for an experienced, full time teacher who has
leadership skills to bring in teaching with our open and welcoming faculty . A full-time position is a typical school year based program and a year round competitive salary commensurate with qualifications. We cover medical and dental benefits and offer retirement benefits as well.Our ideal candidate is a trained Waldorf teacher with classroom experience. Teachers who have lead teaching experience in a Waldorf classroom are also encouraged to apply, if you are also interested in continuing in further training. As a state licensed facility, we require the basic Early Childhood core classes as well.
