Job DescriptionEnvironmental & Sustainability ManagerGalldris GroupLocation: Regional role - Birmingham, London, Hertfordshire and SuffolkAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Environmental & Sustainability Manager to join our team. To be considered, you will come from a Civil Engineering or Construction background. This is a regional role covering a variety of construction projects within Birmingham, London, Hertfordshire and Suffolk. The ideal candidate will have to hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites is necessary.The Environmental & Sustainability Manager will be responsible for overseeing and improving E&S performance and driving innovation across several projects.Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:Produce and review project specific environmental documentationApply and maintain validity of Section 61, and any permit/licences for sites as requiredEnsuring each project understands their client’s sustainability requirementsAudit and report environmental performance to internal management, external clients, and regulatory bodiesSupport sites to deliver material management plans for suitable reuse and disposal of materialsProvide technical advice and solutions to assist with any significant environmental challengesReview project performance, addressing areas of improvementEnsuring compliance with environmental legislation, ensuring project and company complianceLiaison with clients, local authorities and other statutory bodiesEnvironmental incident investigations, if requiredAssist in implementing the EMS across the business and ensure compliance on project sitesCollaborate with site teams and buyers to achieve sustainable procurement for all materials and services, confirming that all are ethically or sustainably sourced. Where feasible seeking products with reduced embodied carbonDelivery of training on environmental management and sustainability for the project team and supply chain where applicableSupport development and implementation of business environmental & sustainability strategy and support the roll out of this to project teamsExperience/Knowledge:Knowledge of relevant Environmental Legislation and guidelinesFormal auditing experience/trainingExperience embedding environmental and sustainability considerations across projectsExperience maintaining records and documentation systemsSkills:Ability to use a range of IT packages, Microsoft Office, and bespoke packagesExceptional relationship-building skillsExcellent communication skills, both oral & writtenInterpersonal skills to deal effectively with people at all levelsPositive attitude alwaysAbility to integrate and play an active part in the construction teamGood organisational skills and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlinesAble to work in a fast-paced work environmentDriving licence and availability to travelQualifications:Professional membership of an appropriate environmental organisation (e.g. IEMA)Relevant Environmental or Sustainability QualificationInterested applicants must be eligible to work legally in the UK.Should you feel you have what it takes to be successful in this role then we would love to hear from you.Galldris is an Equal Opportunities employer and does not discriminate against any protected characteristic.
