FacultyJob Summary:The DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY at EAST TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR position in Clinical/Health Service Psychology, area of specialization. ALL areas of clinical/counseling psychology will be considered. Interest in serving as the Director of Clinical Training (DCT) is preferred. Candidates from underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2024.The department expects all successful candidates to establish and maintain active research programs involving undergraduate and graduate students and to pursue extramural funding. Exceptional collaborative research opportunities across various psychological fields are provided by the James H. Quillen College of Medicine and the ETSU College of Public Health. We also look for evidence of candidates’ abilities to contribute excellence in teaching and service and to the collegiality of our thriving department. The department’s teaching load is 2/2, with the potential for negotiated teaching load reductions for those assuming DCT responsibilities, and we are particularly interested in candidates who could teach courses consistent with our graduate program’s mission in integrated healthcare and rural mental health, as well as generalist clinical courses such as psychopathology, assessment, or statistics, or those in the applicant’s primary area of interest.The Department of Psychology at ETSU houses an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Ph.D. concentration with a special focus on rural mental health and primary care psychology, identified as an exemplary program in training students to practice in integrated healthcare settings. The department also houses an in-house training clinic and a complementary Ph.D. concentration in Experimental Psychology that focuses on translational research. Our Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program consists of students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, with nearly 50% who are first generation college students. Most of our graduate students go on to careers in clinical service in rural and medically underserved communities.The beautiful Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains in Johnson City, Tennessee surround ETSU. The area enjoys a mild climate in summer and winter and boasts numerous waterways, parks, trails, and resorts for year-round recreational activities.

Applicants must have completed an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and an APA-accredited psychology internship by 12/31/24 or be currently licensed as a doctoral-level psychologist.Applicants must meet qualifications to serve as at least an Associate Professor.Eventual licensure in Tennessee is expected as supervision of our clinical psychology students rotates among clinical faculty as part of their teaching load.Preferred Qualifications
