Job Purpose

As a Data Scientist, you'll work under the senior leader of Data and Analytics as a member of IT responsible for developing advanced analytical capabilities including predictive and prescriptive analytics, machine learning, NLP, AI, identifying new and innovating reporting and analytics tools, and implementing the models and tools required to elevate the competency of data and analytics for LP. You will be responsible for developing advanced analytical models and performing data science duties as defined and teaching those models and functionality to other members of the team. You will partner with business and operational leaders to provide an impact by leveraging data and analytical tools, strategic thinking, and hypothesis-based analysis on machine learning (ML)-based projects. You'll gain exposure to corporate-wide scenarios that require good communication skills and the ability to effectively multi-task. In addition, you'll be involved in training our data citizens using business intelligence tools and solutions and leveraging all of LP’s business applications. Further, you will support senior leadership by creating business insights, reports, and analyses to aid in the decision-making process.

In This Position You Will Have The Opportunity ToWork directly with internal and external customers to identify use cases for advanced analytics; developing models, reports, and dashboards that truly drive business value both within LP and in the marketAssist and provide information to users, IT staff, and general management on issues such as planning, scheduling, and using reporting system production capabilitiesMaintain system and application documentation for assigned systems and/or projectsDevelop and provide training to end-users on BI and advanced analytics applications softwareTranslate business needs into analytics/reporting requirements to support executive decisions and workflows with required informationPerform large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions and identify hidden relationships between variables in large datasetsProactively mine data warehouses to identify trends and patterns and generate insights for business units and senior leadershipResearch and implement cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence to make data analysis more efficientApply statistical analysis and visualization techniques to various dataDesign and conduct data analyses with the highest standard of rigor and scientific accuracy; this includes study design, methodology, algorithms, and statistical modelingWhat do I need to be successful?5-6 years of demonstrated analytical experience in successfully launching, planning, and executing data science projects, including statistical analysis, data engineering, and data visualizationFluency in multiple programming languages and statistical analysis tools such as Python, SQL, JavaScript, R, SAS, ExcelKnowledge of distributed data/computing tools such as KafkaKnowledge of statistical and data mining techniques such as generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, random forest, boosting, trees, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN)Strong understanding of AI, its potential roles in solving business problems, and the future trajectory of generative AI modelsWillingness and ability to learn new technologies on the jobAbility to communicate complex projects, models, and results to a diverse audience with a wide range of understandingAbility to work in diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environmentSuperior presentation skills, including storytelling and other techniques to guide and inspireExperience and working knowledge of major components of predictive and prescriptive analytical toolsExperience in the development of Machine Learning models and AI frameworksKnowledge of SAP sources (S4, Ariba, Success Factor) and Data Lake platforms like SnowflakeWorking knowledge of current systems analysis and design methodsStrong customer service skillsEffective PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project etc.)Ability to learn and apply new technologiesProven experience in conducting statistical analysis and building models with advanced scripting languagesExperience leading projects that apply ML and data science to business functionsSpecialization in text analytics, image recognition, graph analysis, or other specialized ML techniques, such as deep learning, is preferredEducationBachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field.
