Senior Associate Scientist, Sample LogisticsLocations: United States - California - La JollaTime Type: VollzeitPosted on: Vor 2 TagenJob Requisition ID: 4921932Why Patients Need YouThe Pfizer Oncology Research Unit in La Jolla is seeking a full-time employee to support the drug discovery process for innovative medicines to treat cancer. The candidate will work in the Sample Logistics laboratory in Discovery Technologies to manage receipt of research compounds, track compound inventory, utilize and maintain various robotic instruments and software, communicate with and advise assay scientists, and prepare compounds for distribution.What You Will AchieveThe responsibilities rely on use of automated equipment integrated with specialized software that manages the compound workflow from order through delivery to the scientist. The candidate will be trained and expected to work independently on daily essential operations.How You Will Achieve It:Work closely with scientists to request, receive, prepare, and deliver DMSO-based compounds in agreed upon formats to enable the performance of various downstream assays.Work primarily with acoustic based dispensing technologies and related liquid handling instruments to deliver accurate and high quality nanoliter - microliter volumes in assay ready plates (ARPs) or near assay ready plates (nARPs).Be proficient in various laboratory-based software applications required to perform duties including but not limited to compound request, LIMS, integrated controlling software, independent instrument software, etc.Maintain, QC, and troubleshoot/repair laboratory instruments and related consumables and reagents.Prepare deliverables and ship items for external work to other sites and partners.Assist in the evaluation, acquisition, installation, and implementation of new laboratory instruments or software.Work independently but also in a team environment to manage the delivery of requested items to a large customer user base in a timely manner.Qualifications, Relevant Experience & SkillsBasic QualificationsA bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biology, bioengineering, chemistry, or other related field with 3+ years in an industrial or academic pharmaceutical laboratory setting.Experience handling small molecule organic compounds, automated liquid handling systems, and scientific software applications/LIMS.Experience designing and programming workflows with acoustic dispensing technologies (Beckman ECHO or EDC ATS-100) as well as expertise with other liquid handling platforms such as Tecan, Agilent, Beckman, etc.Ability to properly perform calculations of molarity and dilutions.Experience working with and validating various plate density types and formats such as 96, 384, and 1536 well plates.Strong organization skills with an emphasis on attention to detail to enable multitasking and scheduling of multiple requests.Knowledge of general assay workflow and concepts to guide and suggest delivery options to scientists.Strong work ethic, self-motivation, fast learner, independent but team oriented, strong communication skills, and an ability to work with a broad range of personalities.Strong computer and software skills to include but not limited to being highly proficient with Microsoft Office and at least one scientific based application such as Pipeline Pilot, Mosaic, Scigilian, and Activity Base.A desire to learn the drug discovery process and help enhance and optimize workflows to enable improved efficiencies.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of compound registration and related processes.Computer programming knowledge is highly desirable.Position will be 100% on site.Last Date to Apply for Job:

On PremiseThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
