Staff-Parish Relations CommitteeJob SummaryChrist Church of Louisville is a member of the Global Methodist Church whose Mission Statement states, “Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.”The primary task of all staff of Christ Church of Louisville is to support the work & ministry of the congregation, in its efforts to fulfill the church’s mission to bring people to a personal saving relationship with Jesus Christ and to bring all believers to maturity in Christ through worship, study, training, and to place them in ministry both within and without the congregation.The person in this position should be uniquely responsible for and charged with developing and facilitating a comprehensive Contemporary Worship program for Christ Church of Louisville and the community. This person serves as the primary contact among congregational members and community members regarding contemporary worship music. The Contemporary Worship Leader will work with coworkers, congregation members, volunteers, and other CCOL leaders to contribute to a positive working atmosphere in a team-based setting that supports the Church’s mission.Reporting RelationshipsThis position will work under the direct supervision of the Lead Pastor. Arrangements for special hours, changes in days off, and other matters shall be determined between these two. This individual shall exercise all powers delegated to him/her by the pastor. If absences or unexpected events should be for an extended time, the Chairperson of the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee shall be notified as soon as possible.Duties & Essential Job FunctionsPlan the Contemporary Worship services in consultation with the Lead Pastor, with prayer, conceptual forethought, theological accuracy, and musical appropriateness.Schedule musicians with preferred use of online planning programs.Select music, develop worship sets, purchase and introduce new music for the contemporary service.Create and work with a team to develop worship (i.e., software, visuals, video, stage decor).Lead, recruit, and develop musicians for the contemporary worship service.Run weekly rehearsals and provide creative and technical guidance with the team.Facilitate worship at the 9:00 am contemporary service.Other Functions and ResponsibilitiesEstablish high standards for the contemporary worship team at CCOL.Respond to requests & responsibilities in a timely fashion.Complete work with a high level of accuracy.Maintain confidentiality.Set contemporary service practices and Sunday assignments.Direct and rehearse with the worship team as scheduled.Coordinate logistics including members’ roster, music stands, microphones, and sufficient copies of music for all members.Keep records of music performed.Choose music for the liturgical year appropriate for the church season and planned service.Inform worship team members and parents, if applicable, concerning responsibilities.Attend worship and music staff meetings when scheduled.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills & QualificationsA clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing, personal relationship with Him.Commitment to the authority of the Bible and agreement with the doctrines expressed in the Apostles Creed and other GMC doctrines.Worship leading experience in a ministry setting.Capable of leading worship with vocal and instrumental skills.Ability to read Scripture, pray, and verbally interact with a congregation during worship.A proven developer of musicians, vocalists, and teams. Ability to work with people, both adults and children, both trained and untrained musicians, in the church musical setting.Willingness to use a team approach to create a superior program of worship.Experience in the use of technology in worship including sound, lighting, and computers (Worship Planning and worship software).Good organizational, administrative, and communication skills.Exhibit courtesy, cooperation & confidentiality in all dealings with members of the congregation, staff, and general public.A desire and ability to lead music in a way that glorifies God, collaboratively enhances worship, and nurtures participation in the music ministries of the church.A willingness to actively seek assistance from persons and organizations outside of the church that can augment the music of the church is not required but would be regarded very favorably.Required Licenses/CertificatesNonePhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentWork is primarily sedentary in nature; however, may require some lifting with stage setup.
