Job Description

The Genetic, Environmental and Occupational Toxicology department is a diverse team of scientists with the goal of supporting both AbbVie Discovery and Development projects by providing both Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and non-GLP

in vitro

and

in vivo

genetic toxicology testing and characterizing the biological mechanisms of toxicological findings.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our genetic toxicology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for running, analyzing, and reporting

in vitro

assays as well as assisting scientists with projects as needed in a collaborative, team-based setting. The successful candidate will apply basic scientific principles to research and be proficient in biology lab techniques (pipetting, cell culture, molecular biology, flow cytometry, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Apply basic scientific principles to research.

Completely follow established experimental protocols and assess results.

Learn and effectively implement new experimental protocols and/or techniques. Maintain laboratory equipment and optimize laboratory operations for efficient use of time and laboratory supplies and reagents, when appropriate.

Consult literature to understand the scientific purpose of assignments. Impact projects predominantly through lab-based activities.

Learn, understand, and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials and GLP compliance, where applicable.

Qualifications

BS or MS in biology, chemistry, toxicology, or a related field, or equivalent education, with typically 0 (MS) or 3+ (BS) years’ experience

Experience with cell culture and/or microbiology

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work and contribute within a team

Good time management and multi-tasking skills

Fast learner, able to generate and analyze data with little supervision

Proficient with Microsoft Office or alternative software tools for data analysis

Preferred:

Experience with flow cytometry for cell cycle and/or protein expression analysis

Salary:

$58,656 - $104,500
