05/01/2024; complete applications received after that date may be considered as needs arise.Position Summary:The Mathematics and Statistics Department in the College of Natural Sciences is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024-25 academic year. Courses in need of coverage may include supported classes (college algebra, finite math for business, introduction to statistics), hybrid classes (introduction to statistics, business statistics), trigonometry, precalculus, and occasionally calculus, linear algebra, differential equations. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.Minimum Qualifications:The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is an MA or MS in Mathematics or a related field.Preferred Qualifications:Preferred qualifications include a PhD or previous teaching experience. Bilingual candidates will be given preference.Responsibilities:Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching lower division undergraduate courses. All applicants must apply online; applications submitted via email or in-person to the department will not be considered.The Department:The Department of Mathematics and Statistics consists of 19 tenure or tenure-track faculty, 15 lecturer faculty, and around 160 math majors and minors. We offer 4 options in the bachelor’s degree: General Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, and Statistics. Starting in Fall 2024 we will offer a master’s degree in Data Science and Analytics.
