The City of Napa is seeking applicants for one (1) Administrative Secretary opening in the Napa Police Department. The Administrative Secretary serves as a key role in the Police Department Administration Division by working closely with our Police Chief and members of Command Staff, including Police Captains, Police Lieutenants, 911 Communications Manager, and Police Records Bureau Administrator to support the needs of the department. Currently, the Administration Division consists of our Police Chief, one (1) Administrative Police Captain, one (1) Administrative Lieutenant, and two (2) Management Analysts I/II in addition to this new Administrative Secretary opening.

The Administrative Secretary provides a full range of highly complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support to the Police Chief, which requires effective time management and organization skills. As an Administrative Secretary, you will report directly to the Police Chief and support the Police Department with a wide variety of assignments including recordkeeping and department personnel administration, assisting with Public Records Acts requests, performing receptionist duties, explaining administrative policies and procedures, preparing correspondence, reports, meeting agendas, and minutes, and special projects as assigned. Responsibilities also include regular contact with government officials such as City Council, Board and Commission members, representatives of business or community organizations, news agencies, the public, and all levels of City personnel to share information and respond to inquiries.
