Position Highlights:

The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona Health Sciences in Tucson invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The College of Pharmacy is ranked 4th nationally in NIH funding. Applicants whose research interests are in longevity and related neurodegenerative diseases are encouraged to apply. The incumbent will join a department with current research strength in multiple areas of pharmacology, toxicology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmaceutics including drug discovery efforts for Alzheimer's and other age-related neurodegenerative diseases.

The Arizona Center for Drug Discovery and the new Coit Center for Longevity and Neurotherapeutics have been established in the College of Pharmacy. The overall mission of the new Longevity Center is to accelerate an understanding of aging, longevity and/or neuronal health as well as foster efforts to develop new opportunities for prevention and drug discovery in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, and others. Excellent opportunities exist for collaborations with researchers at other parts of the University of Arizona campus, Center for Innovation in Brain Science, the Neuroscience Graduate Interdisciplinary Program, the Bio5 Institute, Arizona Cancer Center, Arizona Center for Drug Discovery and Development and Southwestern Environmental Health Sciences Center.

Areas of interest include aging, longevity, or neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and others. Candidates are expected to use multi-facet approaches to better understand biochemical, genetic, epigenetic, and environmental regulation of age-related diseases and healthy lifespan. Additional areas of interest include modeling diseases with iPSC and/or animal models, drug discovery towards age-related diseases, innovative application of artificial intelligence in aging and neurodegeneration. Candidates with research efforts on Rapamycin and other longevity therapeutics are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have an outstanding record of research accomplishments and are expected to develop an active extramurally-funded research program. Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain interdisciplinary research programs.

Produce strong peer-reviewed publications.

Provide instruction in professional, graduate, and undergraduate degree programs.

Lead or contribute to "team science" based interdisciplinary research grants/projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD, PharmD or MD degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Post-doctoral experience.

Demonstrated track record of presentations and publications in longevity research.
