Job Description Summary / TWC Summary : The Development Director will be a key member of the University Development Office, responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with donors and alumni to secure philanthropic support for Texas Southern University. This seasoned fundraiser will play a vital role in advancing the university’s fundraising goals and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our institution. This position may require travel to develop and maintain relationships with donors. This position reports to the Executive Director of Development.

Essential Duties Summary :

Fundraising:

Collaborates with leadership and fundraising colleagues to create and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with university priorities, ensuring revenue goals are met.

Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors.

Develops relationships with key donors and implements strategies that will bring gifts to TSU.

Maintains an active donor visit schedule; establishes and meets mutually agreed upon annual goals for dollars raised and calls made on donors and prospects.

Assists the Executive Director of Development with establishment of fundraising goals.

Develops a prospect pipeline and a college-based fundraising strategy.

Completes monthly fundraising reviews with college-based and major gift officers and develops strategies to increase major gifts.

Prospect Research:

Assists with identification and qualification of major donors by conducting research and analysis to determine their philanthropic interests and capacity to give to TSU.

Proposal Development:

Prepares persuasive proposals, presentations, and reports tailored to individual donors, to solicit gifts, highlighting the impact of their contributions on the university’s initiatives.

Stewardship:

Works with the Development Director Donor Relations & Stewardship to implement effective stewardship plans to recognize and acknowledge donors for their support.

Collaboration:

Works closely with university leadership, faculty, and staff to align fundraising efforts with academic and institutional objectives.

Event Participation:

Attends and actively engages in university events, including alumni gatherings, donor receptions, and fundraising campaigns.

Data Management:

Works with the Executive Director of Advancement Services to maintain accurate and up-to-date donors in the university’s CRM system.

% FTE : 1.0

Hiring Range : $63,840.00 - $79,801.00

Education : Bachelor’s degree required.

Work Experience :At least three years of successful frontline fundraising experience in higher education or similar setting.

Proven record of accomplishment of securing major gifts and cultivating donor relationships.

Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems.

Commitment to the mission and values of Texas Southern University.

Working/Environmental Conditions :Limited standing and/or walking.

Handling light weight objects.

Ability to stoop, bend, or lift.

May require routine travel.
