The Skills Trainer will educate consumers on how to successfully manage their consumer-directed hands-on care and will also be primarily responsible for other skills training department-wide tasks and processes.This Personal Care Attendant Skills Trainer will cover the Boston area of Massachusetts and up to a 60-mile radius of your home address.Bilingual preferred: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or RussianHours: 8:30am - 4:30pmFull-time: 35 hours a weekMonday - FridayTravel required: Cover a 60-mile radius of your home addressMust have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to travel within assigned service areaEssential Job FunctionsFollow-up on assigned referrals in a timely manner as determined by contractAssess consumers’ ability to manage PCA servicesTrain consumers and/or surrogates the skills needed to manage their PCA program as outlined in the Mass Health Service Agreement and according to the Personal Care Management (PCM) ContractMaintain confidentiality in all consumer-related issuesAttend in-service, supervision, and staff development meetings when requested by managerDemonstrate a working knowledge of program policies and procedures and Mass Health regulationsDemonstrate a commitment to the Independent Living philosophy of consumer controlMust report all suspected incidents of consumer sexual/physical abuse and neglect to the Disabled Person Protection Commission (DPPC)Work within company policies and in accordance with the PCM Contract to complete and track required documentation within required timelines:Assigned referrals and intake documentationService Agreements and Assessments for re-evaluationsSupportive documentation for intakes and re-evaluations as neededReturn all phone calls from surrogates and consumers within 48 hoursWork within policies to complete and submit internal requirements:Progress NotesOutlook ScheduleMileage and Expense FormsFollow up with Manager and/or Program Assistant on requests for skills training and tracking reports:Non-billing, overbilling, and ineligible consumersQuarterly and Annual ReviewsPerform other duties as assigned by the Skills Trainer Manager.RequirementsQualificationsExperience providing services for persons with disabilitiesKnowledge of PCA programs is preferredExperience in education, teaching, or counseling is helpfulKnowledge of community resources and social service systems is beneficialExcellent communication, organizational, and writing skillsBasic computer skills in Microsoft Office/Outlook and the ability to navigate databasesSpecialized training provided as neededRequired EducationGED or High School Diploma requiredBachelor’s Degree preferredPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
