Job SummaryThe Manager Environmental Protection provides direction and leadership for timely, efficient compliance with environmental strategies and regulations as they apply to refinery operations. The manager is responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives. This includes meeting the refinery's environmental responsibilities to stakeholders as well as ensuring compliance with company standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
10+ years of job-related experience
Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Experience in refinery/petrochemical industry, preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Job Duties
Establish a system for meeting regulatory compliance obligations as well as facility's environmental responsibilities
Oversee and ensure 100% compliance is met for all environmental regulatory standards (State and Federal), permits, policies and procedures, best practices, and other guidelines
Provide and manage environmental technical support for refinery operations and maintenance
Develop and communicate refinery environmental priorities that coincide and support corporate and facility vision, mission, and values, as well as foster continual environmental performance improvements
Supervise the collating, organizing, and evaluating of data for the preparation, certification, and submission of required reports
Serve as focal point with outside agencies and community inquires on environmental matters
Lead and supervise environmental group to ensure development and maintaining technical expertise
Interpret and track current and pending applicable environmental regulations and requirements
Progress refinery remediation projects to closure
Review permit application submittals for modifications due to renewals, capital projects, expense projects and review LDEQ permit draft before going to public notice and/or LDEQ routing for signatures
Provides support to Legal for environmental legal matters such as, Natural Resource Damage Restoration Assessments
Participate on Corporate Functional Excellence Team, Industry Environmental Committees, and LC Emergency Response Team
Attend quarterly Environmental Contingent Liability Corporate meetings to review remediation activities
Lead Corporate Environmental refinery audits, State and Federal inspections and lead efforts in addressing findings, observations, or non-compliance issues
Provide monthly environmental index data to Corporate Environmental each month
Additional Qualifications
Valid Driver's License
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
Hourly employees
must be qualified as a temporary supervisor according to the Supervisor Development Process (OSDP, MSDP, or LSDP) and meet minimum qualifications listed above.
