Analytical Team Lead & Senior Scientist - Charlotte, NC

In support of our R&D growth strategy, the Team Lead & Senior Analytical Scientist will:

Lead a team of analytical chemists and scientists, responsible for the operations of the analytical labs as part of R&D group responsibility, supporting the EDN business, innovation projects, and manufacturing operations.

Be responsible for continuous improvement of analytical & colloidal science and characterization expertise in the group.

Support improving existing methods and implement modern analytical technologies required for troubleshooting R&D and business challenges.

Provide technical support for the existing product portfolio and resolve performance issues related to customer complaints and manufacturing issues.

Support improving quality by further harmonizing analytical test methods and procedures across all EDN QA/QC labs.

Support innovation launch efficiency by providing analytical support and know-how to product development, regulatory, and manufacturing as part of Product Launch Excellence.

Liaise closely with stakeholders from sales, marketing, regulatory, and operations to understand business needs and determine the best analytical support.

Balance resources against shifting priorities through executing R&D and capital plans within time and resource constraints.

Establish a work environment that allows employees to achieve goals in the areas of safety, health, environment, quality, cost control, and productivity through ownership and team responsibility.

Manage maintenance, repair, and calibration of analytical lab equipment in alignment with the site safety and facilities group standards.

Support the implementation of metrics to track and improve lab work efficiency, raw material and equipment procurement, lab ISO program, RCRA coordination, and other central lab functions.

What we Look for in You:

Education & Experience:

Ph.D. in a scientific discipline such as chemistry, polymer or material science, chemical engineering & 5 years of relevant experience in an R&D environment.

Analytical science, product characterization experience, preferably in polymer and colloidal science.

Thorough knowledge of analytical technologies in separation science including GC, GC/MS, HPLC, and HPLC/MS, rheology, physical characterization, spectroscopy, and interfacial science.

Proven ability to lead, plan, coordinate, and complete analytical projects on difficult problems with cross-functional teams.

Track record of generating innovation and application of cutting-edge technology.

Serious safety focus, attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Proficient computer skills and experience using various IT systems and databases relevant to analytical technology.
