The Haul Truck Driver position is responsible for the safe transportation of industrial and commercial equipment to and from various customer job locations and branch stores. This position involves local or long-distance hauling of equipment and supplies as well as loading, unloading, and securing the equipment.

Essential Functions:

Delivery and pick up of equipment for customers in a safe and timely, efficient, and courteous mannerSecure construction equipment and other equipment, by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under strict accordance and established proceduresPerform pre- and post-vehicle inspection; Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition, before, during, and after delivery tripsReport vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehiclesPerform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairsComplete DOT-required drivers daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentationPerform basic troubleshooting involving malfunctioning equipment at job site and make minor repairsDemonstration of proper and safe equipment usage to customer at the point of deliveryObtain required signatures on rental contracts, pick up, and exchange formsAssist other departments whenever required in an efficient mannerPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Basic knowledge of construction equipment and safe driving proceduresKnowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelinesKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenanceKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfactionQuality control analysis skills - conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performanceOperation and control skills - controlling operations of equipment or systemsEquipment selection skills - determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobThe ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positionsAbility to read maps and operate GPS systemsAbility to maintain a clean driver's record and diligent attention to safetyAbility to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in mechanical repairThe ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble small objectsThe ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writingThe ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentencesEducation and Experience:

Three years driving experience preferred, with verifiable over-the-road experience operating combination commercial vehiclesHigh school or equivalent diploma preferredValid Driver's license with Class A CDL certification, DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)Possess knowledge of and/or previous experience in driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment, and operating safely within high-traffic or congested city zones and in small areasSupervisory Responsibilities:
