Position Overview: The State of Michigan's Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking a skilled Java with React Developer to join our dynamic team. This role will involve developing, maintaining, and enhancing web applications that support transportation initiatives and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java development, proficiency in React.js, and experience working in a government or public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and implement web applications using Java and React.js to meet the needs of MDOT. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, UX/UI designers, and other developers, to gather requirements and create technical specifications. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards. Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers. Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications for performance and scalability. Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Stay updated on emerging technologies and propose enhancements to existing applications and development processes. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in Java development and React.js. Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture. Proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git). Knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ORM frameworks. Familiarity with agile methodologies and development tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in government or public sector software development. Familiarity with transportation systems or logistics applications. Knowledge of cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.
