Certification Details BLS, ACLS Job Details A hospital in Washington is in need of an ICU RN to work a 13 week travel assignment. - Beds: 6 - One continuous unit with acute care. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: No cardiac intervention. Sepsis, elderly, COPD, CHF, suicide, drug overdose, a fib RVR, etc. - RT in ICU 24/7: RT in house 24/7, shared house wide. - RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.): Heated high flow, CPAP, bipap, vents. 2 RT's on during the day. 1 RT at night. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Responsible for monitoring, reading and interpretating their own strips. ICU also monitors, reads, and interprets strips for acute care unit (12 units on acute care). GE & Phillips monitors. Job Requirements - Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, ACLS - Experience or 'Must have' skills: At least 1 year in the specialty. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Sedation (Propofol, etc.), pressors (Levo, Norepi, Dopamine), paralytics (rare), Insulin, Cardizem, etc. - Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes - shared between acute care and ICU. 2-3 on per shift, depending on census. - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Hospitalist in house or ARNP (at night). Intensivist is remote. Schedule Information - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 12 hr. 7-7:30. Priority is given to unit staff. Completed by management. Posted by the 15th of the month. - Weekend Requirements: Based on unit need. - Holiday Requirements: Based on unit need. - Is there a call or standby requirement?: Can be placed on standby up to 3 times during the contract. Call is required if on low census for that shift. - Floating Requirements: Float to acute care (would take a full assignment) or float to ER (tasking and may do 1:1 as well). - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Scrubs not provided. Navy or white (can be intermixed). Unit Specific Information Unit: ICU - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: There is a charge nurse over acute care and ICU (works similar to a house supervisor). Free of patient assignment. The charge nurse is not an ICU nurses but they are ACLS certified. - Unit/Department specific orientation: Sometime with the Nurse Educator on equipment. 1 shift with a preceptor. Computer training 2.5 hrs. Additional Details ACLS, BLS START DATE: 10/29 (TUE) 50 miles radius rule
