National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. We’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in the full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.About the Position

As an Associate Engineer, you will be accountable for the day-to-day maintenance and support of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Distribution SCADA system and required data interfaces.What You’ll Do

In this position, you will work with the wider grid modernization organization to ensure consistency between developing technologies and ADMS requirements. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of system applications such as Closed Loop Fault Isolation and Service Restoration (CL FISR), Voltage Var Optimization (VVO), and Volt Var Control (VVC), Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR), along with providing interface support and GIS Feeder Modeling support.Support Control Center operations and the use of ADMS applications.Provide engineering and technical support to the Control Centers for the safe, economic, and reliable operation of the electric generation, transmission, and substation system.Interface with various divisions and departments in resolving and tracking the progress of resolutions to operating problems in support of reliable system operation.Provide technical support to the Control Centers in the resolution of system failures and equipment problems to ensure reliable system performance.Develop and maintain systems, designs, specifications, standards, models, and procedures to support design solutions and enhance safety, efficiency, and operability.What You’ll Need

Bachelor or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution.Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025.Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025, or July 7, 2025.Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States.More Information

Salary RangeBuffalo, NY $83,000 - $98,000 a yearPlease note US Colleagues must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
