Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Job Specialty: Emergency Department (ED) Job Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM, Night shift Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in a Level 2 Trauma Center preferred; strong Level 3 experience may be considered License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) preferred, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) also accepted Must-Have: - Trauma experience - Ventilator management - Critical care drips/titration - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Measuring cardiac strips - Experience with drains, chest tubes, hemodynamic lines: Art lines/CVP - Stroke experience (TNK administration) - Conscious sedation experience - Experience assisting with splinting - US-guided IV placement (preferred) Job Description: - Work in a fast-paced Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department- Care for patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics- Responsible for a variety of multispecialty cases (Medical, Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Trauma, Interventional)- Familiarity with common conditions: DKA, Sepsis, Multisystem trauma, Respiratory Failure, Renal Failure, COVID-19, ETOH, IVDA- Provide care for both adult and pediatric patients with mental health issues including Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Suicidal Ideation, Depression, Anxiety- Deliver high-quality care to patients with conditions such as STEMI, NSTEMI, Heart failure- Maintain patient ratios in line with unit requirements: Main ED 1:4, ED Holding Medical/Surgical - 1:5, ICU - 1:1-2, Psych: 1:6- Collaborate effectively with unit support including secretaries, paramedics, psych techs, and charge nurses- Utilize the Cerner charting system and handle equipment such as Alaris and Pyxis- No inpatient floating required; may float between Triage, Psych, Trauma, and Holding routinely- Complete a 3-day orientation program- Participate in weekend rotations as needed- Flexible holiday expectations based on unit needsNote: Scrubs in any professional color are acceptable.
