Under supervision, and in collaboration with physician colleagues, assists with diagnosing and treating patients. Assists with facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient's family. Coordinates care to ensure quality, effective care and patient safety.

Position includes on the job training and mentorship from experienced Dermatology physicians.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master of Science degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse license and certified as a Nurse Practitioner. Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and Certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of MarylandDEA and CDS eligibleCPR requiredACLS/BCLS as requiredDemonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialtyDemonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needsDemonstrates highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential mattersMaintains updated mandatory trainingUpdates immunizations as recommended per practice area

ESSENGIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Clinical Responsibilitiesa. Establishes joint practice with designated providers where follow up patients have a venue to be seen and cared for in tandem with the provider's clinic.b. Establishes a primary practice separate from a designated provider where urgent or return patients (recently discharged, recently hospitalized, urgent medical issues appropriate for clinic, new symptoms related to an existing problem) will be triaged and treated as needed. c. Assists in the triage and management of established Practice patients. d. Reviews all complex cases with physician and handles independently in accordance with competencies as agreed upon by supervising physician e. Reviews intake forms and medical records for appropriateness. f. Performs detailed patient interviews and physicals. g. Creates detailed patient care plans and provides patient education. h. Counsels and teaches patients and family members in regard to disease process and expected outcomes.

2. Customer Servicea. Models and upholds customer service focus to all internal and external customers.b. Demonstrates respect for all people in the work environment.c. Ensures confidentiality of patient information.

3. Professional Development and Organizational Leadershipa. Serves on department, hospital and community committees.b. Maintains professional licensure, certification, and credentialing requirements as required by the Maryland State Board of Nursing and national certifying organizations.c. Participates in department educational opportunities (i.e. journal clubs, grand rounds, etc.)d. Participates in and presents at local, regional, and national professional organizations.e. Pursues educational opportunities for professional growth (i.e. CEUs, update conferences), as needed to maintain certification.f. Promotes the organization to all customers. Acts as a loyal and supportive informed spokesperson for the hospital.
