Description:
The main function of a database analyst/programmer is to coordinate changes to computer databases, test, and implement the database applying knowledge of database management systems. A typical database analyst/programmer is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing security measures to safeguard the computer database. Also this role will be helping on their development strategy projects.
Typical Day:Research existing mainframe programs and documenting/flow charting findingsEnhancing existing programsWriting custom one-time-only use programs to perform data modificationsDocumenting change evidence for FSA/SOX complianceInteraction with team:
Technical Skills Required:
-2+ years experience with mainframe environment, preferably GIS Cluster C/A - COBOL development3+ years -SQL / DB2 programming mainframe3+ years -IMS or CICS development2+ years (IMS preferred)2+ years with debugging tools like Xpeditor, Abend-Aid -2+ experience working with end-customers on IT requirements / testing(Desired)
Experience in working with FSA/SOX ControlsSoft Skills Required:
Good communicator / clear English skillsEducation Requirements:
Programming certificate degree - at least undergrad / community college 2 yr., preferably/desired 4 year Comp Sci degreeNo degree, they will need to have at least 8-10 of actual hands on experience in this role.Masters degree, they will at least 4+ years of experience
