The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system.Job Summary:Performs planning, coordination and administration of general accounting activities for multiply entities with the System.
Responsibilities:Prepares and maintains journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and subsidiary ledgers.May produce financial statements and budget-to-actual reports. And be required to explain variancesInvolved in the consolidated month end reporting processPrepares, analyzes and maintains trend information.Prepares audit and/or tax work papers for assigned areas.Participates in month end close activities including the preparation and review of journal entries and review of budget to actual reports.Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Verifies and analyzes business records, transactions and procedures.Assists in the annual budget, forecast and integrated Financial Strategic Operating Plan processes as needed.Responds to inquiries from management; researches issues, clarifies information, and prepares supporting data.Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.Responds to inquiries from the various members of financial leadership regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.Works closely with intercompany partners on intercompany reconciliations.Assists in documentation and monitoring of internal controls and procedures.Other Duties as assigned
Complexity of Work:Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Must have ability to work under tight deadlines during month end and year end close process.
QualificationsQualifications:Education:Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
Technical Skills/Work Experience:Three to seven accounting experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
Health care System experience preferredExperience with Peoplesoft General Ledger preferred but willing to train.Proficiency with Excel is requiredExcellent interpersonal, analytical and oral/written communication skillsUnderstands and applies knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), financial analysis and reporting.Public Accounting experience preferredAttention to detail with the ability to perform and work within scheduled deadlines is required.Proficient with Microsoft Access, PowerPoint and WordSuccessfully achieves personal/functional goals in a team/process environment.
