Job PurposeThe Business Intelligence (BI) Developer works collaboratively with end users to design technical specifications, model data, and develop self-service business intelligence systems that provide meaningful insight for decision-making. The BI Developer extracts, loads, transforms, integrates, and warehouses data from multiple source systems with an emphasis on performance, optimization, usability, and security. The BI Developer will play a critical role in executing the analytics platform roadmap vision for Idahoan Foods. The BI Developer will work in support of all managers and users requiring data for decision support under the direction of the Director of Analytics.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting and Data Visualization:

Meets with decision makers, application owners, and nontechnical end users to define business, financial, and operations requirements and convert business requirements into technical specifications for reports and data visualizations. Designs, develops, and publishes datasets, dataflows, reports, dashboards, and apps to the Power BI service. Prepares and delivers recommendations that address existing and potential trouble areas across the organization. Creates models, specifications, diagrams, and documentation for new and modified systems. Works with all levels of development from requirements through implementation and support. Trains and provides technical support to end-users.Data Modeling:

Collaborates in the planning, design, development, and deployment of normalized and de-normalized data models within the data warehouse, including dimensional models (a.k.a., Kimball models, star schemas). Identifies, communicates, and resolves data quality and data reconciliation issues. Integrates, extracts, loads, and transforms data from disparate source systems. Performs troubleshooting, debugging, and problem solving for data warehouse, and integration solutions.Performance and Optimization:

Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develops strategies for improving and further leveraging these systems. Monitors and adjusts queries, reports, data models and dataflows to optimize query and report performance. Evaluates and adjusts user interface to reduce cognitive load, maximize usability, and maintain consistency. Assists in implementing effective business analytics practices that drive improved decision making, efficiency and performance. Uses requirements documents to create any necessary design documentation. Performs all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.Alignment with Core Values of the Company

College degree in business administration, computer science, accounting, or management information systems combined with 2-5 years related work experience.Understanding of database management systems, data warehouse design, self-service BI software, and T-SQL scripting, including stored procedures, views, data aggregation/manipulation through table joins/queries, normalization, and de-normalization techniques.Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts and experience working with end-users to define requirements and understand core business processes.Self-service BI experience is preferred (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, etc.). Experience with ERP source systems (MS Dynamics 365 F&O or similar) is preferred.Knowledge of Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and SQL Server (or similar) is preferred.Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical and communication abilities.Preferred familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle in an IT environment, and experience with Visual Studio and code management.Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Computer Skills:

Experience using Microsoft/Azure business intelligence tools including Azure SQL Database or SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Factory, and Microsoft Power BI. Proficient in SQL (T-SQL) query development is preferred.

Work Environment:

Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported. This position can be on call 24 x 7 and is expected to provide support via cell phone and email. Includes possible travel to other Idahoan Foods, LLC facility locations.
