Advanced Workflow Specialist, Confocal for Leica Microsystems Inc. in Deerfield, IL to be responsible for providing technical and application sales support for the Life Science Research Confocal products. Support Leica's Life Science Research customers, Sales Specialists, and agents in all facets of their selling activities. Coordinate and provide customer support on all confocal products, remote and on-site product demonstrations, and workshops.Assist the marketing and sales teams by identifying potential customers in geographic region and provide technical content for marketing materials such as brochures and product data sheets. Provide support in difficult customer accounts and serve as a point of contact for knowledge for more junior employees. Consult with customers and sales/applications specialists to deeply understand and provide extensive application support on issues related to general microscopy.Evaluate leads provided by the marketing and sales teams and develop them strategically for maximum success. Perform remote online troubleshooting and training sessions with end customers and sales reps; support exhibitions and coordinate short course support, including planning, communicating, teaching, and reporting; handle demonstration system logistics and confirm correct system functionality; and process customer provided samples and develop methods to address specific customer needs.Education Required:

Masters or PhD degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Optics, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus four (4) years of experience as a researcher, scientific technician, or customer-facing professional in the industry applying microscopy and digital imaging techniques.Experience must include:Biological imaging techniques and application including fluorescence theory, optical theory, confocal microscopy, and multi-photon microscopy;Quantitative image analysis with software such as FIJI, Imaris (Oxford Instruments), ZEN (Zeiss), NIS-Elements (Nikon), LAS X (Leica Microsystems), etc.;Independent wet-lab research experience (biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, etc.);Communication with researchers from varied backgrounds and different knowledge levels;Troubleshooting scientific and instrument problems;Teaching or training experience: providing training and advice on how to use imaging equipment and techniques to solve scientific questions.Up to 50% domestic and international travel required.
