JOB SUMMARY

The mission of the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is to support the Health Center's clinical and clerical operations. As directed by the provider and Clinical Operations Manager, the LPN assists the provider and performs appropriate tests and procedures. The LPN is responsible for administrative tasks for the Health Center and may assist the Patient Advocate in employee engagement and outreach.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers in accordance with our service delivery standards and core values
  • Prepare patients to be seen by the provider through triage, assessment, treatment procedures, and follow-up information
  • Perform tests such as selected laboratory tests, EKG's, Spirometry, inhalation treatments, annual physicals, visual screening, audiometry testing, and CLIA-waived testing
  • Prepare medications and administer injections as ordered by the provider
  • Assist providers with procedures and treatments as needed
  • Consult with patients by telephone addressing concerns or instructions from the provider
  • Sanitize and clean examining rooms between patients
  • Check expiration dates on drugs, vaccines, and other products; dispose of expired medications and products per company guidelines
  • Demonstrate a willingness to work with other providers as deemed necessary
  • Manage the overall Health Center inventory and supply management
  • Partner with the Patient Advocate to assist with patient engagement/outreach
  • Participate in meetings and in services as requested by the Clinical Operations Manager
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Required:
  • Current LPN license in good standing
  • Current BLS certification through American Heart Association valid for at least 90 days after start date
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Internet software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to prioritize needs and plan work accordingly
  • Knowledge of HIPPA confidentiality requirements
Preferred:
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as an LPN.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job primarily operates in a medical office environment and is required to interact with patients for the majority of the workday. The physical demands to perform the essential functions of this job are:
  • Effective communication, mobility, ability to operate office equipment and travel intermittently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at their work area for prolonged periods of time.
  • Employee will occasionally be required to lift office products and supplies up to 20-30 pounds.

POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This role is considered a full-time, non-exempt position. Evening and weekend work may be required depending on the schedule of the individual health and wellness center.

TRAVEL

Infrequent, domestic travel may be required and should be expected to be less than 20% of the position's overall responsibilities.
