Senior Project Manager

Summary
The senior project manager is responsible for the overall set-up and completion of projects within budget and on schedule, to Kent's quality of safety standards and the customer's satisfaction. This position works with the operations manager and superintendent to create corrective action plans to maintain budgets and position the field team to overcome obstacles and potentially accelerate the project schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Builds and monitors budgets and schedules that meet client expectations by providing weekly progress reports and feedback for further financial analysis.
  • Manages and tracks all project costs to ensure project progress aligns at or better than the established budget.
  • Works with division manager, superintendents, and foremen to plan, organize, and identify potential schedule impacts, including scope, weather, manpower, and changes, and facilitates migration plans for these impacts.
  • Owns the buyout process by verifying pricing and scope, identifying successful bidders, providing gap analysis against initial scope, and managing the issuance of subcontracts.
  • Manages the submittal schedule set-up. Coordinates priorities with the team; reviews and approves all shop drawings and samples before submittal to customers, architects, or engineers.
  • Foster vendor and subcontractor relationships to potentially create budget savings for project buyouts.
  • Ensures approved submittals are returned to subcontractors and available to the project team per the project schedule and the contract.
  • Work with the superintendent to ensure the crew's time, job details, logistics, and materials are delivered according to the project schedule.
  • Manage all changes with scope and project drawings to determine cost impact on budget and process changes with field to keep projects on schedule and determine if change orders are needed.
  • Prepare and present weekly job performance to the senior management team to update financial statement projections and quarterly business plans.
  • Leads the project start-up process, including job forms, certificate requests, submittals, schedule of values, etc.
  • Leads the close-out process and manages punch list items with customers and the field.
  • Work remotely at the project site as needed.
  • Attends onsite meetings with field teams and progress meetings with customers.
  • Responsible for handling more extensive and complex projects, including multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Works closely with a Project Engineer, leading their efforts to support complex projects.
Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of experience managing projects and concrete scopes as a subcontractor or self-performing general contractor.
  • A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or business.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presenting advice clearly and concisely.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency and Microsoft Project/Scheduling proficiency.
  • Strong financial skills and budget experience are required.
  • Be entrepreneurial and find practical solutions to problems and questions.
  • Be able and willing to solve challenges through innovation; work with minimal direction and supervision; be proactive, not reactive.
  • Be able and willing to travel locally.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving.
  • Ability to pass drug screening.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.
Preferred education and experience
Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Work Environment/Physical Demand
This position works in an office environment and requires long periods of sitting. The project manager travels to the field to supervise projects as required.

This is a full-time office position. Typical hours will range from 45-50 hours per week and are subject to change. This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules. Due to the critical nature of the role, accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary.
