Environmental Project Manager

Overview:

FPM Remediations, Inc. is currently seeking to fill a full-time Environmental Project Manager position. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with 10+ years of relevant professional experience with 5+ years in project management to join a team of dedicated and knowledgeable environmental professionals. This position will provide an opportunity to manage site investigation and remediation projects of varying size and complexity, which would include leading and directing staff involved in field investigations, remediation, data evaluation, and document production. The successful candidate will be assigned to an FPM office in Oneida, NY; St. Petersburg, FL; Phoenix, AZ; or San Antonio, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:

The position will manage and provide technical, administrative, and logistical support to environmental projects at locations around the United States. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising and managing project teams.
  • Supporting business development pursuits by fostering client relationships that lead to future opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Cost estimating, preparing bid packages, and preparation of proposals.
  • Acting as the FPM point of contact with clients and selected subcontractors.
  • Engaging clients and Project Stakeholders to monitor and manage expectations.
  • Overseeing production of project planning documents including Project Management Plans, Work Plans/Quality Assurance Project Plans, Health and Safety Plans, and other documents as required.
  • Overseeing production of draft and final deliverables to meet contract requirements.
  • Leading technical and administrative Project Status Meetings with Project Stakeholders.
  • Providing technical, schedule, fiscal, and administrative project information to functional leads.
  • Working with other project managers, project staff, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.
  • Preparing project invoices for Client.
  • Reviewing and approving subcontractor and vendor invoices.
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level staff

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Managing workflow.
  • Training new hires.
  • Creating and managing team schedules.
  • Reporting to senior management.
  • Evaluating performance and providing feedback.
  • Identifying and applying career advancement opportunities.

Education and/or Experience:

The Environmental Project Manager will have the following qualifications:

  • 10 years of professional experience in environmental investigation/remediation with minimum 5 years Project Management experience
  • BS degree or higher in an environmental science and/or environmental engineering
  • Experience conducting site investigations/characterizations, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, engineering evaluations, and remedial designs/actions at CERCLA and/or RCRA sites with contaminated media including soil, sediments, surface water, and groundwater.
  • Experience working on Department of Defense projects is a major plus (e.g. USACE, AFCEC, NAVFAC)
  • 40 HR OSHA Hazwoper preferred.

  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically but also critically analyze details.
  • Ability to occasionally travel.
  • Regulatory and stakeholder negotiation.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize and adapt to changing situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • A professional certification, registration, or license (e.g., PE, PG, Project Management Professional [PMP], or license in their respective field)

Security Clearance:

Must be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered investigation

Travel:

Travel to field sites may occasionally be required as needed, ~10 to 20% travel. Travel may involve participation in and/or coordination/supervision of field work; and presentations and/or meetings with clients and other project stakeholders.

General office environment.
