z/OS Systems Programmer

The z/OS Systems Programmer is position responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and development of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the budgetary requirement definition for assigned product area, develop functional specifications, and create project plans and software release schedulesPartner with business and development teams to identify engineering requirements and assist in defining application and system requirements and processes and maintain engineering relationships with the end user/clientEnsure requirements/tasks from technology departments and/or end users are communicated to stakeholdersProvide solutions and processes in accordance with audit initiatives and requirements and consult with Business Information Security officers (BISOs) and TISOsExhibit in-depth understanding of engineering concepts and principlesAssist with training activities and mentor junior team membersAppropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.Qualifications:
3-5 years of relevant experience in an Engineering roleExperience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environmentProject Management experienceConsistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communicationComprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practicesDemonstrated analytic/diagnostic skillsAbility to work in a matrix environment and partner with virtual teamsAbility to work independently, prioritize, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiativeAbility to work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirementsProven track record of operational process change and improvementEducation:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
The role of the z/OS Systems Programmer is to be part of a team of technicians providing 'on-site' and 'out of hours' support of the IBM z/OS operating system software and associated OEM products within the CTI Data Centers. The z/OS Systems Programmer also provides support in a consultative role to other teams within Citigroup. Key Responsibilities•Identify and analyze business requirements to integrate hardware storage operating systems and connectivity solutions in line with strategic direction•Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on systems configuration and integration performance analysis and optimization•Design and impact timely delivery of resilient infrastructure solutions that meet business requirements and are stable resilient operationally supportable and cost effective•Impact cost saves and cost avoidance by standardizing design solutions and exploring opportunities to recover unused capacity
Skills:
1. Understanding and experience of maintenance, customization and support of the IBM z/OS operating system and sub-products.
2. Understanding and experience of maintenance, customization and support of OEM products used within the z/Series environment.
3. SMP/E skills.
4. Understanding of Hardware Configuration and associated software tools.
5. Working knowledge of proprietary debugging and problem determination tools.
6. Working knowledge of the Assembler programming language.
7. Knowledge of REXX.
8. Basic skills in using PC tools e.g. Word and Excel
