Dean of the College of Health Sciences

Western University of Health Sciences (WesternU) seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the next Dean of the College of Health Sciences (Dean CHS) on the California Campus. WesternU is a non-profit, private university with its main campus in Pomona, California, and a second campus in Lebanon, Oregon. Founded in 1977, WesternU's mission is to produce health care professionals and biomedical knowledge that will enhance and extend the quality of life in our communities.The College of Health Sciences (CHS) comprises unique academic programs (currently DPT, MSHS, MSMS, MSPA) that share a commitment to innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a passion for serving the community. The College supports WesternU in its mission to increase the availability of healthcare providers and provides educational opportunities for students in a variety of health careers.Reporting directly to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer, the incoming Dean CHS will be a key leader on campus, responsible for the overall leadership of the College of Health Sciences, including oversight for administration, finances, accreditation, faculty, staff, and students. The Dean CHS will be an integral part of the University at large in strategically planning its growth and ensuring the mission, values, and vision are upheld. The next Dean CHS will need to be agile, pioneering, and innovative to help lead the College in an evolving environment that invites program development to enhance the College and the University. The Dean CHS will oversee the Pomona, CA campus and work closely with the College of Health Sciences Associate and Assistant Deans, providing vision and strategy for a collaborative leadership team.The next Dean CHS will have an earned doctorate and clinical experience in an appropriate Health Sciences field or related discipline, a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in academic administration at an institution of higher education, and preference will be given to individuals with teaching experience in a Health Sciences higher education environment, with evidence of service and scholarship. The successful candidate will have progressive and broad administrative leadership experience as a current or former Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Chair of an academic unit at a college, university, academic health center, or similarly complex institution. The qualities and qualifications of the successful individual will include but are not limited to: effective communication skills, support advocacy, a proponent of diversity, a commitment to an innovative vision for student and faculty research, student-centered learning in an environment where students can thrive, and a strong commitment to the health sciences.All applications, nominations, and inquiries are invited.
