Description
Lido Advisors, LLC is an established and rapidly expanding wealth management firm. Lido is seeking a talented and nimble Legal Counsel to join its growing Legal team. This role will be focused on providing legal counsel to our investment advisory business and other parts of the Lido enterprise as needed. You will report to the General Counsel and will work closely with members of our Legal and Compliance teams, coordinate with outside counsel, and collaborate with a range of teams across the business. The ideal candidate will have a background as counsel to a wealth management or investment advisory firm.
Responsibilities
Providing practical and timely legal advice, guidance and support on a range of matters relevant to Lido’s business, including long-term projects and day-to-day mattersProvide counsel in connection with new business and product initiativesDraft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts relating to Lido’s business, including client agreements, NDAs, commercial agreements, employment agreements, etc.Collaborate with other Legal team members in support of projectsInterpret existing and proposed laws, rules, and regulations, and advise on changes theretoAssist with subpoena, litigation and regulatory matters as neededProvide legal support to the private fund platformLearn new subject matter areas and take ownership of projects as neededDevelop and implement policies, processes and standards to support the Legal Department and other business areasAssist with corporate matters and work on projects outside of normal responsibilities and adapt as neededManage outside counsel as necessary
Requirements
Juris doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolCalifornia Bar membership that is active and in good standing, or eligible to practice as California Registered in-house counsel4+ years of practicing law, preferably at a law firm, financial institution, government agency, regulator and/or self-regulatory organization, with securities industry experienceKnowledge of the Investment Advisors Act of 1940 and its related rules and regulations, federal and state securities laws, and the investment advisor business is preferred but not requiredSome familiarity with private funds and the Investment Company Act of 1940 is preferredPrior in-house experience helpful, but not requiredStrong analytical skillsExcellent writing and verbal communication skillsTeam player and a desire to collaborate with others in a dynamic environmentStrong work ethic and attention to detailWillingness to take ownership on projectsAbility to organize, prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and keep the team apprised of statusAgility in a rapidly changing and fast-paced business environmentDesire and willingness to dive into the investment adviser space and to develop as a generalistCreativity, a growth mindset, and a sense of humor are essential
Location:
Applicants are expected to work onsite in our Los Angeles office in accordance with Lido’s hybrid working policy
Compensation Range
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range below is an estimate and may be modified in the future. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $150K - $240K together with a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits program.
