The company also operates AMC Studios, our in-house studio, production, and distribution operation behind acclaimed and fan-favorite originals including The Walking Dead Universe and the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and AMC Networks International, our international programming business.
We are currently seeking a Director, Production Incentives to join our production services team based in our Santa Monica, CA office.
JOB SUMMARYThe Director of Production Incentives will oversee the tax incentives process in various states and internationally for all AMC Studios original productions. This position will work closely with the AMC Studios production, post and finance teams. The Director of Production Incentives will establish relationships with the film offices at the various states and countries and must be detailed oriented in adhering to the various guidelines in each location.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with production and production finance in analyzing appropriate filming jurisdictions to maximize the tax credit.
Vet various state and local production and post production tax incentive programs regulations and qualifications for each project AMC Studios explores producing.
Stay abreast of changes in state legislation as it relates to the applicable production tax incentive program.
Explore opportunities in legislation for maximizing tax incentive credit.
Provide guidance on various state, local and international jurisdictional programs.
Work closely with the post production department on various jurisdictions for post and VFX work and breakdown of locales for each project to ensure optimizing the incentives for each phase of post production.
Partake in economic development studies to provide statistical information related to the direct impact productions have on a local community.
Communicate with lobbyists to stay informed of potential upcoming changes in legislation and provide assessment of proposed changes.
Compile all necessary production related information needed for submission of the tax credit application.
Submit application and all support documentation in a timely manner in adherence of submission deadlines.
Ensure submitted project has been certified from the jurisdiction for approval in the respective incentive program.
Throughout production and upon completion, provide to Film Office any required updates and deliverables.
Work closely with Digital Marketing and Production Departments in the creation of alternative marketing materials.
Engage with auditors for each project and provide all financial support documentation needed working closely with the Production Finance Department and the respective production accountants.
Manage audit process responding to open items and questions throughout in a timely manner to ensure the expediency of audit completion.
Connect with Department of Revenue representatives on any outstanding requirements and timing of credit as it goes through the final jurisdictional approval process.
Provide Corporate Finance Department with updated expected tax credit amounts and timing on a quarterly basis.
Provide Corporate Tax Department with any information needed for corporate tax filing.
Engage with tax brokers in applicable jurisdictions keeping them apprised of audit status and expected credit amount.
Provide guidance to production accountants on jurisdictional requirements, qualified vs. non-qualified expenditures, appropriate tagging of costs, etc.
Monitor production spend in jurisdictions to flag inconsistencies with forecasting, adjust any mis-tagging and update credit estimates accordingly.
Create and maintain relationships with domestic and international film office representatives.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required & Preferred)
Bachelor's degree.
7-10 years of experience working in production tax incentives area.
Familiarity with various tax credit processes for state and international jurisdictions.
Ability to travel domestic and international, if required.
Experience with production budgeting and scheduling.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications.
Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of management.
Well organized and detailed oriented.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The base compensation range for this position is $130,000 to $155,000 commensurate with experience. AMC Networks additionally offers a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Paid Time Off, Paid Parental Leave and Adoption Services, among other benefit plan options, subject to eligibility requirements.
