OverviewWe are seeking a Managing Director to lead our Strategic Finance practice. This individual will have a deep background in financial consulting and advisory, ideally gained from working in consulting, investment banking or private equity, with additional experience in leading a group of individuals composed of large, multi-disciplinary teams, taking responsibility for the P&L for the Strategic Finance line of business. The candidate will lead our strategic partnership to private equity and C-level executive clients, overseeing multiple teams and client engagements, focusing on complex financial transformations and growth strategies. This role offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful financial advisory services and significantly shape our client partnerships.
Who We Are SeekingAs a Managing Director, you will provide strategic leadership within our Strategic Finance "Office of the CFO" services practice, overseeing the entire Strategic Finance group, and the management of multiple client teams across various engagements. Your focus will be on advising clients on financial modeling, FP&A, working capital optimization strategies and capital structure optimization, while developing and implementing long-term growth strategies through the Office of the CFO. You will also be responsible for building and maintaining client relationships, growing the practice, assuming ultimate responsibility for ensuring successful client outcomes and a healthy business performance profile for Palm Tree.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership for Clients:
Oversee multiple client engagements, providing clear strategic direction, and maintaining continuous communication with senior executives. Lead the development and implementation of financial processes, reporting structures, and business strategies for clients experiencing growth or transition.Team Oversight:
Oversee several teams delivering FP&A, financial modeling, working capital optimization strategies and capital structure advisory. Ensure projects are completed at the highest standard and within deadlines.Client Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with private equity and their portfolio company C-suite clients, providing strategic financial advice and identifying opportunities to drive growth and improve financial performance.Business Development:
Actively pursue new business opportunities, leading the development of plans for expanding Palm Tree’s footprint in financial consulting and growing the Strategic Finance practice.Thought Leadership:
Contribute to industry insights by publishing white papers, speaking at industry events, and positioning the firm as a thought leader in Strategic Finance.Mentorship and Development:
Develop and mentor senior leaders and junior team members, guiding their professional growth and ensuring the quality of their work.Operational Oversight:
Lead the performance, development and growth of the Strategic Finance line of business, assuming responsibility for strategic direction on service offerings, hiring plans, expanding current client relationships and establishing new client relationships in partnership with Palm Tree leadership.
Qualifications & RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required.15+ years of relevant professional experience in financial consulting, FP&A, private equity, or investment banking.Proven experience leading multiple teams and large-scale financial engagements, particularly in private equity-backed portfolio companies or similar environments.Demonstrated ability to drive business growth and develop a strong book of business in financial consulting, ideally having relationships established from prior experience.Expertise in financial modeling, capital structure optimization, and strategic planning.Experience managing a P&L and taking responsibility for financial performance of a line of service or business unit.Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial reporting tools.Experience working with C-suite executives and advising on complex financial strategies.Compensation and BenefitsBase Salary : $250k-$300k, with performance-based incentives.Benefits : Competitive medical, dental, vision, 401k, and unlimited PTO.Travel Requirements : 25% - 50% travel, with the flexibility to work remotely.Our Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, & AccessOur people are our greatest asset.As skilled professionals faced with complex challenges, we value unique and creative ideas that help us grow stronger, smarter, and more adaptable for tomorrow.
