For a complete description of our benefits for this position, please visit our website.We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biostatistician to join our team and serve as the Director of a new departmental Analytical Core within the Department of Medicine.POSITION PURPOSEThe role of the Biostatistician and Director is to provide complex and critical consulting, leadership, statistical expertise, data analysis, and data interpretation services to advance and support the research community within the department and the university. The Biostatistician will have the opportunity to design and shape key processes and procedures in the Data Analytics Core. This position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple overlapping data analysis projects, and communicate effectively with staff and faculty on a wide range of topics.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAnalytical = 75%Research and determine appropriate methodologic procedures for a range of statistical analyses, including biostatistics and bioinformatics.Perform multivariable statistical analyses using advanced analytic approaches.Collaborate with individuals or interdisciplinary research teams on projects from inception through publication.Develop knowledge and skills in established and emerging analytical techniques.Data Analytic Core Management = 25%Direct day-to-day operations of the Data Analytic Core, including triaging requests for data analysis and overall project management.Recruiting, onboarding, assigning projects, offboarding a team of data analysts.Advertise and promote the Core to the faculty and trainees, and provide consultation for new data analytic requests.Partner with the Senior Director of Operations and the CFO to ensure projects are being charged out appropriately and that there is a financial sustainability plan.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSPhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology or a related field and at least 4 years’ related experience with progressive responsibility at a diverse, complex, multi-faceted organization.Demonstrated dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion.Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge with SAS, R, Python, STATA, or other coding language and programming software.Experience with federal grant submissions, including proposals to the NIH and DOD.Strong analytical communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize projects.DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS7 years' related experience.Previous experience in a consultant-based model/shared service, research setting and/or medical setting.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTIn a deadline-driven environment, occasional evening or weekend hours may be required.University of Washington is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
