Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

The Engineering Supervisor reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for executing capital and maintenance projects. The Project Engineer will develop scope, schedule, and budget documents for projects and lead/execute projects as required. This position requires excellent organization and communication skills.

  1. Creates project scope / budget / schedule documents. Prepares drawings, procures equipment, selects contractors, plans work, and assures safe practices on assigned projects.

  1. Coordinates and manages projects including field installations, start-up of new equipment, and modifications to existing plants and equipment. Tracks project scope, cost, and schedule and distributes monthly update reports.

  1. Develops new processing methods and modifications identified by plant operating management to reduce cost and increase efficiency and profitability.

  1. Recommends plant modifications and changes to plant management to include layout, engineering design, cost estimates, and procedures.

  1. Provides engineering consultation for plant maintenance on request. Obtains and analyzes field data. Establishes direction for cost-effective resolution of problems.

  1. Performs other projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering.
Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree – Mechanical or Civil Engineering/Engineering Technology/Engineering Applied Sciences.

  1. Minimum 3+ years experience in heavy industrial plant engineering, with design and construction experience and proven project management techniques. Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and construction practices.

  1. Excellent verbal and/or written communication skills with all levels of personnel within the Company and outside vendors and suppliers.

  1. Proven ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and AutoCAD.

  1. Ability to organize large projects and take the lead role of the project’s design, procurement, construction, and start-up activities.

  1. Ability to travel 40%.
