Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health, Environmental (SH&E) Manager who will lead and direct a plant in the Safety, Health, and Environmental (SH&E) areas. They will assure monitoring and preventing chemical, physical hazards throughout the plant and the community. This person is responsible for leading and facilitating the development and implementation of cost-effective programs and procedures that continuously increase overall awareness in SH&E to eliminate undesired incidents at the site. They will also partner with the local management team to assure local compliance with all applicable plant, company, and governmental policies, procedures, regulations, legislation, and maintaining alignment with Cabot's Culture and Values. Lastly, they will collaborate with the Region, Corporate and regulatory agencies to ensure SH&E concerns are identified and managed.The candidate must have strong self-motivation, and a desire to work in an environment of continuous improvement. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative mindset are key for this role, which will interact with all organizational levels and functions.We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced Safety, Health, and Environmental manager that can drive SH&E results and quality standards for the site. The SH&E Manager will work on-site at the Tuscola, IL plant.How You Will Make an Impact
In this role, you are the responsible person for leading and facilitating the development and implementation of training and other programs and activities necessary to ensure facility SH&E compliance. This role requires a SH&E mindset, self-motivated person with a positive attitude, effective time management, organization, and recordkeeping skills. A successful candidate will be someone who can:Monitor proposed and existing SH&E regulations and legislation to determine their impact on operations. Develop and implement programs to ensure continued compliance.Participate in the development and implementation of Long-Range Plans (LRPs), Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs), global standards, budget, and other corporate efforts.Establish site SH&E goals and objectives consistent with global and regional goals.Manage the system for identifying, investigating, recording, and reporting undesired SH&E events. Ensure corrective actions are taken to fulfill regulatory compliance.Provide regular communication to all levels of management regarding SH&E performance to ensure that relevant issues are quickly and appropriately addressed.Manage all plant permitting efforts to meet regulatory requirements including but not limited to chemical, physical hazards as well as air, land, waste, and water pollution levels.Collect and compile environmental data for air, drinking water, stormwater, wastewater, and waste streams applicable to the site and make the required regulatory report and fee submittals as required by local, state, and federal governmental agencies.Communicate with the appropriate governmental agencies.Oversee requirements of non-hazardous, universal wastes, and hazardous waste activities including proper storage, labeling, manifesting, and container inspections.Manage databases and document record keeping required for assuring compliance with SH&E regulations and standards.Participate in the preparation and administration of site SH&E training. Promote and train employees in the use of safety equipment and in the safe use of machinery. May train forklift operators to qualify for licensing.Prepare Worker's Compensation claims documents.Investigate incidents, prepare incidents reports, and process hazard reviews to analyze site incidents.Administer site medical surveillance programs for respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and industrial hygiene monitoring. Conduct noise level surveys and measure air quality, using precision instruments.Develop and monitor emergency action plans. Recommend changes to policies and procedures to prevent incidents and illness. Participate in hazard assessments for determination of personal protective equipment requirements and energy control procedures.Provide oversight and advancement of the site's commitment to Process Safety Management (PSM) to ensure alignment with Regional and Corporate PSM goals and expectations.Evaluate and align site programs with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS).Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care and ISO Management Systems in line with the requirements of the RC14001 and ISO9001 technical specifications.What You Will Bring to Cabot
Bachelor/University degree in Safety or Environmental engineering or related fields and 5+ years of related experience, including prior leadership/supervisory experience; professional certification preferred.Demonstrated technical competence in SH&E field including local and national regulations, technical practices in monitoring and measuring environmental emissions and compliance.Preferred experience of SH&E team leadership.Good planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.Strong oral and written communication skills.Good presentation skills.Strong interpersonal skills (i.e., team and culture building).Negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.How We'll Support Your Success:
