Job Summary

Takes impressions and bite registrationsTakes, develops, and mounts x-rays. Instruct students on taking x-raysFits preliminary crowns for adjustments, create custom temporary restorations and place temporary restorative material in teethMakes and fabricates temporary crown and adjust and cementPlaces and removes matrix retainers for alloy and composite restorationsPlaces resin and amalgam restorations. Finish and polish restorations and adjust patient bitePerforms expanded dental assistant functions and demonstrate correct procedures to studentsSits chair side to pass instruments and support direct patient care as indicated by procedureConfirms that instruments are sterilized and working properly and organize them for procedures and/or surgeryQualifications

EDUCATION

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)WORK EXPERIENCE

RequiredCompletion of an accredited dental assisting training program

AND

1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialty;

OR2 years of dental assisting experience

AND

Completion of an accredited dental assisting training program

AND

1 year of expanded dental assisting experience or assisting in a dental specialtyLICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
